Munich Re’s “Green Solutions” team aims to become the Green Beacon in the global specialty market. The team has for many years been a pioneer of technology performance and physical damage insurance in the renewable energy sector. The team has now taken over responsibility for direct forestry and agriculture business. The ambition is to continuously improve product offerings, including the use of state-of-the-art geospatial technology and risk assessment. Green Solutions is part of Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets (MRS-GM) and is an international team with colleagues in Munich, London, Shanghai, Tokyo and Singapore.
To further strengthen our team, we are looking for a new colleague to join our underwriting team.
Your Job
- Assist in underwriting and underwrite forestry insurance business, exercise judgment in all underwriting matters, ensure profitability, act across the full underwriting process and remain aware of own underwriting responsibilities.
- Support the underwriting team by providing an accurate and high quality administrative service, preparation of contractual documents and demonstrating care for customers.
- Assist in the risk analysis process by checking of technical information and following up with clients.
- Participate in geospatial risk assessment approaches and apply geospatial pricing routines, whereby continuously enhance your technical expertise, contributing to our team’s knowledge base and maintaining high-quality underwriting standards.
- Support and maintain effective relationships with clients, brokers, colleagues in the team and other teams, and within the wider market in order to grow the business sustainably.
- Participate in client and market events.
- Support of and drive further development of team internal data platforms.
- Participate in a proactive approach to manage risks, focussing on data and a sound understanding of data and technical risk aspects, especially with the help of geospatial information systems.
Your Profile
- Academic degree in economics, finance, forestry or geography discipline or comparable education.
- Initial underwriting knowledge.
- Strong team player with own initiative combined with a willingness to assume responsibility.
- Self-organized with a structured working approach with the ability and willingness to adapt to different working environments.
- Passion and commitment to support development and scaling of new insurance solutions.
- Strong analytical skills, GIS environment, R-coding, Python or ArcGIS knowledge.
- Experience in project management, climate change expertise or other nature-based solution knowledge (next to forestry) would be a plus.
- Excellent English skills, articulate and outgoing, other language skills would be a plus.
